AMBIENT MODULAR LIBRARY
The modular synthesiser I have designed (which I have appropriately dubbed the ‘Dream Machine’) is a powerful tool for creating atmospheric space, immersive soundscapes, and artificial environment. May these recordings transport you to somewhere peaceful, and may you find many happy hours of repeated listening printed on this magnetic tape. My generative patches are designed to subtly change over time; the nuances become more apparent with deep listening. These tracks can also be listened to passively - played quiet enough to ignore. Think of these compositions as something to colour a space.
Each of these ambient soundscapes are recorded in my personal studio, captured with particular attention paid to the quality and authenticity of the capture. For this cassette series, no sample or sound has been recorded by a computer (save for the Make Noise Morphagene, ALM Salmple and Tiptop Pro One) - The recording is processed via an analogue mixing desk, and printed straight onto magnetic tape. This process is authentic of analogue recording technique and is appropriate for the medium it is presented on. There is also a QR code for digitally downloadable assets, where you can download a 24 bit, 48kHz stereo mix master.
The Ambient Modular Library is my attempt to document some of the ambient generative music that comes from my modular synthesiser system that I programme to practise, relax and de-compress. Each side of the cassette has a 45 minute piece recorded straight to tape; a suitable duration of time to get lost within an ever-evolving work. There is also a digital download for the this work, with an extended play-time of 1 hour.
